The development of the Forum began in 1970 with a concern by mental health care leaders in the Washington School of Psychiatry to integrate the discoveries and theoretical frames of their work with the scholarship developing in the humanities.
Our organization is run by a board of directors composed of health care clinicians and scholars drawn predominately from nationally recognized scholars and analysts working in the universities and training institutes around Washington DC.
The Forum is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization with a mission statement to promote interdisciplinary scholarship in psychiatry, psychoanalysis and the humanities
